Gravel & Pit Run

Gravel is available for purchase by County ratepayers, April 8th – October 31st, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm (weather dependent).

Costs

Crushed Gravel

Ratepayers Use – $10 / Tonne, up to a maximum of 500 tonnes / ratepayer / year

Industrial Use – $13.50 / Tonne

Pit Run

$3.90 / Tonne


If you are wanting to purchase gravel, we ask that you please email or phone (403) 485-3124 with the following information: 

  • name
  • land location
  • phone number
  • billing address
  • approximately how much material
  • how heavy you want your truck loaded
  • a description of the truck or license plate number and the name of the company hauling, if you are not hauling it for yourself.

Gravel Pit Locations

County Pit NE 24-21-26 W4 – located 2 miles west off HWY 24 on TWP RD 214. 1″ crushed rock and pit run available for purchase.

Ingraham Pit NE 9-20-23 W4 – located 3.5 miles south of Arrowwood on RGE RD 234 and 3/4 miles east on TWP RD 202. 1″ crushed rock and pit run available for purchase.

Vaage Pit NW 16-15-21 W4 – located 15 miles east of Champion on HWY 529. 1″ crushed rock and pit run available for purchase.

Seebeck Pit SW 4-14-20 W4 – located 18 miles east of Carmangay. 1″ crushed rock and pit run available for purchase.

Top Notch Pit W1/2 5-17-17 W4 – located 2 miles south off HWY 539 on RGE RD 181 and 2 miles east on TWP RD 170. 1″ crushed rock and pit run available for purchase.

Ag Yard Stock Pile – No product available for purchase, aggregate is used for County projects only.

Glowa Stock Pile – No product available for purchase, aggregate is used for County projects only.

Milo Stock Pile – No product available for purchase, aggregate is used for County projects only.

Community Aggregate Levy

The Community Aggregate Payment Levy is $0.25 per tonne of aggregate (gravel or sand) shipped. The report must be received by Vulcan County within 14 days of December 31st and June 30th of each calendar year. A separate report must be submitted for each pit from which an operator has shipped sand or gravel in the reporting period. Failure to report by the specified due date will result in fines.

Graveling services are required primarily to gravel newly constructed roads or to re-gravel existing roads.

  • and the expansion of new and existing pits.
