Tax Recovery Properties for Sale

When a property has tax arrears for more than one year, a tax recovery notification or lien is registered on the property. If the tax arrears are not paid in full, a public auction will be held to recovery uncollected property taxes. Upon payment of the full tax arrears, the County will discharge a tax recovery notification or lien, and the property will not be auctioned.

The following properties have been to public auction and were not sold.  Vulcan County has filed a “Tax Forfeiture” on these properties, and they remain for sale as a Tax Recovery Property:

If you are interested in purchasing on of these Tax Recovery Properties, please contact accountant@vulcancounty.ab.ca or 403-485-2241. In accordance with the Municipal Government Act (MGA), Section 425, the County is required to sell these properties at fair market value (which may differ from the tax assessed value); therefore, a current market evaluation may be required to determine the effective sales price. The prior owner may also revive their certificate of title by payment of their outstanding tax arrears.
