Canada Post Strike Impacting Mail Delivery

Canada Post is currently experiencing a labour disruption due to a strike, which will impact mail delivery services across the country, including here in our municipality. Alternative invoice & payment options for each service are available and will be in effect until mail service returns to normal.

As a result, please be aware of the following service impacts:

Tax Levies:

  • Tax levies that are overdue remain outstanding
  • Penalties will still be issued
  • Call our office if you need assistance

How to pay:

  • EFT, online banking, call us with credit card
  • Drop off a cheque at a County Office (during office hours, or after hours using the secure drop box at the County Administration Building – front of building)

Planning & Development:

  • Permit applications can be made in person at the County Administration Building or by emailing forms to devassist@vulcancounty.ab.ca
  • Payments will be accepted in person, or by EFT, online banking, or over the phone using a credit card
  • For questions, please call Development Services at 403-485-3135

For in-person visits, the County Administration Building is located at 102 Centre Street, Vulcan, and open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Acclaimed Candidates – The following candidates have been acclaimed, meaning they ran uncontested and will service as Councillors in the following divisions:

An Election is required in Division 4 (Carmangay & Area):

New Construction Zone

The public works crew is rebuilding the RR212 & TWP RD151 road, which leads into the Little Bow Resort and Southern Alberta Bible Camp community. This road rebuild is projected to last approximately three weeks.

Some important reminders for vehicles entering & exiting this section of road:

⚠️SLOW down! The posted speed limit is 50km/hr and is strictly enforced.

⚠️️Stay on the roadway and behind the grader. Do not try to go around them, please. They will lead you through.

⚠️Construction equipment has the right of way. Make eye contact with operators to ensure they know you are there.

⚠️Expect delays by allowing for extra time.

Register to Vote in the 2025 Municipal Election!

New for the 2025 Municipal Elections! All municipalities are now required to keep a register of electors, which is shared with Elections Alberta for provincial elections. 

Check to see if you are on the register: https://www.voterlink.ab.ca/

* Please note – you will be directed to the Provincial Electors Registry. This is the correct registration form, even though it does not reference your municipality. 

If you are not on the register on Election Day, you can still vote in the municipal election. You will be required to show proof of your physical address, and your name will be added to the register after the election. 

Deadline to register is September 15th.

2025 Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Vulcan County for our Annual Budget for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2025. To receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device.

Nominations for 2025 Municipal Election

Are you passionate about the County and ready to make a difference? The nomination period for the 2025 Municipal Election is now open.

If you’re considering running for County Council, now is the time to get your paperwork in order. All nomination forms must be submitted by 12:00 PM on September 22nd (Nomination Day) to be eligible.

Things to know:
Vulcan County has 7 electoral divisions.
One Councillor is elected to represent each division.
The candidate must reside in the division.
The term of office is 4 years.
Election Date is October 20th.
