Public Advisory – Water Levels Rising
Vulcan County Regional Emergency Management Partnership is advising residents to exercise caution as a significant rainfall event continues across the region.
Weather forecasts indicate that up to 100 mm of rain, with higher localized amounts possible, is expected through Wednesday morning. As a result, water levels are rising in local creeks and rivers, including the Little Bow River and the Bow River.
At this time, no Flood Warning is in effect for Vulcan County; however, conditions can change rapidly, and residents are encouraged to stay informed and remain vigilant.
Safety Reminders
Residents are asked to:
- Stay away from creeks, rivers, and other watercourses
- Avoid low-lying areas that may be prone to flooding
- Never drive through flooded or washed-out roads
- Monitor water levels near their property, particularly if located in low-lying areas or near waterways
The Vulcan County Regional Emergency Management Partnership is closely monitoring conditions and forecasts from the Alberta River Forecast Centre.
Road Conditions
The heavy rainfall may result in deteriorating road conditions throughout the region. Vulcan County road maintenance crews are actively assessing roads and responding to issues as they arise. Crews are working diligently to address concerns; however, progress may be limited while rainfall continues.
Residents who encounter road issues or have concerns are encouraged to report them by calling 403-485-6090. Reporting issues helps ensure they can be assessed and prioritized appropriately.
Vulcan County thanks residents for their patience and understanding as crews continue their work during this weather event.
