Vulcan County recognizes that a sustainable future is important for everyone in order to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Looking into the future, the County acknowledges that it must strive to become more sustainable in all aspects of its operations and long-term planning. In an effort to address the need to become more sustainable, Vulcan County is undertaking the creation of an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP).
What is an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan?
An Integrated Community Sustainability Plan is a long-term plan developed in consultation with the community to realize sustainability for the five areas of: governance, environment, economy, social, and culture. The Federal and Provincial governments are encouraging communities to complete an ICSP and once the plan is complete they will provide additional funding to municipalities. The funding should be used for environmental sustainability and also to enhance the economic sustainability of the County.
The questionnaire provided an opportunity for County residents to give input on some aspects of the plan. The results for the questionnaire can be seen by following the link below.
