Information about the pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan:
Vulcan County offers a Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan to our ratepayers. This allows ratepayers to pay their property taxes over the year in equal monthly instalments. The program pays the current year`s taxes. Payments are made on the 15th of each month.
The requirements for enrolment are as follows:
In January, the prepayment amount is calculated for the first six months of the year by dividing the previous year’s taxes by 12. In June, the prepayment amount is recalculated by dividing the current year’s tax levy less the prepayments made to balance the tax account to zero. Letters are sent out In January and July to the affected ratepayers informing them of their new payment. Ratepayers enrolled in the plan will see the payments that were made reflected on their tax notice as a negative amount. By dividing the amount left owing by 6, the ratepayer may also calculate their new payment for the balance of the year. No penalties are assessed on properties that are on the Plan if or until the ratepayer withdraws from the plan or there are 2 consecutive NSF prepayments at which time the County will cancel the plan for that property and the property becomes subject to penalties.
The Prepayment Plan continues from year to year until cancelled, withdrawn or the property is sold.
